The Declining Pride of America
There used to be an inherent pride in being from the United States of America. The land of the free and home of the brave. The land of opportunity. Leader of the free world, liberator from communism, fascism, socialism and so on.
The USA, where even those who exercised their right to protest against government policies respected the blessing of living in a country where they had the very freedom to do so.
However, the most recent Gallup poll showed that only 54% agreed that they were “extremely proud” to be an American which is the lowest in the 15 years of this question being asked.
The Shocking Why!
While certainly of great concern, it is more shocking and outright unimaginable that this “sense of country” and pride in America has been systematically and intentionally eroded by our very own elected leadership.
One can look right to The White House. Witness the president’s road trips to foreign lands to apologize for America and condemn it as inherently racist. This is in itself ironic as he, a man of color, has held the highest office in the land for nearly eight years.
Policies directly attributable to the “first black president” have caused the nation to be increasingly divided along political ideology lines resulting in a methodic dismantling of the “American” way of life. The insidiousness of this effort is cloaked and exploited by pitting populations against each other based upon differences such as gender and race.
The Rising Silent Majority
A little voice repeating “the country’s leadership is rotten to the core” has been growing louder inside many American heads. This call to action has resulted in letters to elected representatives, participation in the electoral process, and advocacy of adherence to the Constitution. Many of our forefathers sacrificed their lives to preserve these methods of political expression.
Regrettably, these traditional forms of exercising your rights as a citizen have been rendered ineffective due to an entrenched political duopoly that regards preserving the value of your citizenship as its lowest priority. The “demoCrap” and “republiCant” Parties are equal opportunity offenders when it comes to bankrupting the nation financially and deriding American exceptionalism.
Unless you can afford to become a willing participant (as many in the corporate world have become) in the non-stop influence peddling shake down, your remaining freedoms will be sold out from under you.
