The 2nd Amendment to the United States Constitution, which guarantees the “right of the people to keep and bear Arms,” is sacrosanct to an ameriCAN.
ameriCANs recognize that the 2nd Amendment has been under assault by politicians (on both sides of the aisle) who are determined to see it weakened or completely removed from the Constitution. The constant parade of local government legislation attempting to neuter the 2nd Amendment is a demoCrap Party staple but has barely been slowed by the republiCant Party.
The U.S. Constitution is a contract between the governed and those elected to serve them. However, there are a growing number of politicians that view this contract akin to and ongoing renegotiation or work in progress; that is, a political mind-set by which there are no baselines or absolutes.
Pivotal to the continuance of the Republic is the clear but universal understanding of the terms this contract, especially by the Supreme Court.
To an ameriCAN, the bedrock of the Constitution is the 2nd Amendment, “shatter it and the deal’s off,” quoting the First Citizen. Make no mistake, the 2nd Amendment is in place to remind an out of control government that the citizenry does have the final say.
Challenging the intent of the 2nd Amendment is not about gun control. It’s about people control. To an ameriCAN, gun ownership is an inalienable right that is not going to be diluted through politically inspired ammunition shortages, magazine capacity bans and registration gimmicks all in the name of “public safety.”
The demoCrap Party is notably guilty of leveraging, through a sympathetic media, isolated incidents of mass gun violence to push their own broken record gun control agenda. What is never reported are the number of lives saved or incidents prevented through gun ownership by private citizens. What always goes unmentioned is that the areas experiencing the most gun violence continue to be demoCrap governed.
